Berliners Protest Turkish Embassy
Berlin showed solidarity with the demonstrators in Istanbul, following the human rights-defying actions that were enforced by police at this year’s “Istanbul Pride.” The Turkish government has clearly shown its intolerance of gay, lesbian, transgender, queer, bisexual and intersex people. We can not ignore this injustice.
As Pride goers around the word rejoiced the US Supreme Court decision to legalize marriage in all 5o states, the Istanbul incident demonstrates that the work for equal rights for all LGBT community members is far from over.
